Great insight Curtis. It really speaks to human nature. We trade hard work and discipline and try to buy our way out of the problem. When really, if we just focus on getting everything we can out of what we have, we may solve the problem. I'm currently debating a gym switch. And find my mind being woo'd by all the possibilities of the new gym. And while the new gym does offer some enhancements over the old gym, if I just discipline myself to workout daily and eat right, I'll likely achieve the fitness results I'm looking for, without the cost of a gym switch :-)

I'll testify. I spent the past several years begging the bosses to buy me some disks to put in front of my libraries for NBU. They pretty much stalled until we had to buy new storage anyway, and we ended up with Avamar. I was excited just because my life could not get worse than backing up several hundred servers direct to tape. I thought it would be better than NBU, but after living with it for nearly a year, I don't know that it would be better than NBU with some disks. Every product has its own idiosyncrasies, and I guess the devil you know. . . Good post.
