Andreas, My Experience tells me that to get the 'nsrxchsv' thread to stop on the Exchange Server....you'll have to Stop the Information Store... & wait 10-15Mins!! Once the 'nsrxchsv' thread is NOT showing in task manager.....you can restart the Exchange Information Store....& then you will be able to start a fresh backup!!

I've seen the above problem....but it doesn't happen very often...it's normally caused in my experience by a 'comms' time-out between backup Server & backup node.......but Networker's Default '1 Retry' at the backup server...tries to restart the backup....but of course the backup node is still really running the thread!!

I had the same problem but was able to get it to die without stopping exchange services:

1. stop networker backup services on the exchange host and keep them stopped

2. set retry on the client/backup group to 0

3. wait for the timeout period to expire

4. check task manager. nsrxchsv should die when the networker server times it out.

5. restart networker services and you should be good to go. http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml is your friend. It not only kills hanging Networker services, it kills 'em all, if you want. ;-)
