Notes
- This information sourced from EMC solution esg54037.
- Relevant for all currently supported versions of NetWorker since version 6.0, earlier versions were different.
- The software is exactly the same, the differences come about only from using a different enabler code.
- The max parallelism and max devices can be increased by purchasing storage node enablers - even if you don't have additional storage nodes, if you add an enabler the parallelism and devices limits will go up. For some platforms such as linux/windows servers it is cheaper to buy an additional storage node enabler than upgrading to power edition. On the other hand it can be cheaper to buy power edition instead of buying cluster licenses for top tier SPARC systems. The tip here is that you should ask your EMC supplier for prices of all the relevant combinations when planning a system. However this may be only a temporary situation - EMC will continue to tune up the licensing rules as the market dictates.
ToDo
- It's not very clear what a High Speed Device is these days.
- Immediate Save technology needs expanding on.
