A. As far as the FAQ maintainer
knows, they are:
-
Solaris
-
Brands Networker as ``Solstice
Backup", keeping the version number identical to Legato's number. Support
is available either thru Sun or Legato.
B>Compaq Tru64 Unix (also
known as Digital Unix, also known as OSF/1)</B>
Compaq (and previously Digital)
distributes Legato Networker along with the Operating System on the Associated
Products CD (currently found on Volume 2). Under Digital it was called
"Networker Save and Restore" (NSR).
This version is called "Networker
SingleSever," and is licensed so as to allow one to backup the single computer
on which the software is installed to a directly attached tape drive --
NOT to a jukebox.(A Jukebox license must be acquired separately from Legato
if desired.)
Useful things to know:
-
This is the full and complete
version of Legato Networker which runs on Tru64 Unix (server and client).
-
The version numbers used by
Compaq for versions of Legato now match the Legato versions since Legato
purchased the 64bit, Y2K version of then Networker code base from Compaq
(circa April 1999). Prior to 5.5, Digital/Compaq had run about a release
behind because of the effort necessity to port Legato from the 32 to the
64bit environment, and therefore used a different version numbering scheme
to reflect the 64bit code base.
-
"Networker SingleServer" really
means one computer -- itself. If you wish to back-up multiple Tru64 systems
(or a Tru64 system other than the one on which the server software is installed),
use one or more jukeboxes or Auto-loaders, backup systems running other
vendors versions of Unix (IBM SCO, etc.) using Tru64 as the server, backup
various Databases, etc., you need to obtain the appropriate licenses from
Legato directly. All of Legato's normal licensing mechanacions apply.
-
Separate licenses are needed
for each node in a Tru-Cluster environment.
-
It is recommended that you obtain
Networker support directly from Legato as Compaq does not directly support
it any longer, and there is no point in paying the surcharge.
-
The Legato Con-Dist (currently
called "Legato Information Protection Product Family Media Kit," which
consists of 6 cds) includes the Tru64 Unix client and server distribution
as well as the Unique Tru64 documentation. The software is in SETLD format.
-
There are important installation
update (ie corrections) instructions for Tru64 Unix in the release notes
separate from the "Installation Guide for Digital Unix."

Data General (DG UX)

[From a Data General colleague]

We bundle a restricted version
of NetWorker into the DG/UX release. It is called LDBU (Data Backup Utility).
It does not accept licenses, saveset choice is only "All", only one backup
device is allowed, local backup only, and parallelism is limited to 2.
So it is very restricted in its capabilities but it does work.

Oracle
-
A stripped down version of NetWorker
is included with every version of Oracle beyond 8.x. It is for use
with RMAN.
-
Informix
-
A stripped down version of NetWorker
is included with every version of Informix after 7.3. It is for use
with onbar.
