Just went live with the new backupcentral.com.  Holding my breath hoping everything works in production.

I think I've tested everything, but I'm sure there's a few bugs out there. I just made a few hundred 301 redirects from all the old static html pages to all the new dynamic pages.

Saw your post to Ex-PSA, and thought I'd come on over. Awesome site Curtis! I've been hearing good things about Joomla and the various extensions, and I like the way you have tied everything together. Nice and seamless.

Great job! I'm going to start reading around.

How hard was getting your old content into the database?

Laters!

cpreston - Two words: Cut and paste   | Super Administrator | 2007-01-09 18:43:09
Seriously. The main content pages like tape drives, etc, were static HTML. I cut and pasted them into HTML -> Wikitex converterts, then cut and pasted them into the Wiki.

The FAQ-O-Matic was done using the original source files in the filesystem. Lots of grepping and sedding, then cutting and pasting.

There are converters from one type of Wiki to another, but to go from pure HTML to Wiki, it's good old fashioned hard work.
