Just when I start to think I know what Im doing....

Running rsnapshot 1.3.1 and config version 1.2
localhost is Openindiana (one kind of solaris x86)
remotehost is gentoo linux (hostname `gv')

I have this exclude line (Just dealing with 1 line of a more complex
exclude file):

/var/lib/spamassassin/

After an error free run then looking at the files collected for /var/lib

ls [...]/hourly.0/gv-var/lib/spamassassin/3.004000

That is, everthing beneath gv-var/lib/spamassassin has been pulled.

I expected to see nothing in gv-var/lib/spamassassin/, but I admit I
do get confused every time I try to sort out how exlude files are to
be notated.

OK, so trying all these:
/var/lib/spamassassin/

var/lib/spamassassin/

/var/lib/spamassassin/*

var/lib/spamassassin/*

But still, in every case I see files and directories beneath
/var/lib/spamassassin/

ls [...]/hourly.0/gv-var/lib/spamassassin/3.004000

I'm pretty sure its some obvious mistake I'm making... but not seeing
it.

OK, what is the trick here

I always put '/var/lib/anything/*' and it has worked so far for me.

How do
you spend it?

Thanks... yes got it. Turns out my sandbox was very flawed... I was
looking for results in one place and having rsync write somewhere
else. Gack... I hate when I do that
