I have tracked this problem down to the fact that 8.2.4.9's nsr_render_log no longer knows how to skip over the nsrim output that is (and has always been) written into the daemon.raw file... Congratulations Dell/EMC - you regressed nsr_render_log! Must be 8.2.4.9 was built on the wrong machine. Can we start a petition to get pay as Dell/EMC's QA department???

Are you seeing this in the runtime rendered log? What is the exact error message? I don't seem to seeing this with our 8.2.4.9 server.

Re: NetWorker 8.2.4.9 nsr_render_log

I am seeing nsr_render_log output 40,900 error messages to stderr that says:

Unable to render the following message: 86069:nsrim: Processing 538 clients

and then the rest of the output of the nsrim -Xmq run that NetWorker did itself are output each with the "Unable to render the following message:" prefix (well, not all of them, the blank lines are mercifully not included). In the rendered log, I am seeing this:

5 10/28/2017 06:35:41 AM 1 1 0 0 unknown unknown LOG unrendered 86069:nsrim: Processing 538 clients

Which correlates (based on the timestamp of the message in the raw log just before the line that nsr_render_log is not able to process.

Further testing (while waiting for EMC to respond) indicates that nsrim dumping its output into daemon.raw is a new thing with 8.2SP4 (at least as compared to 8.2SP3).

I don't use the "runtime rendered log" - I render it as needed and that has worked (until now).

Frank,

Not seeing it here:

nsr_render_log daemon.raw 2>file
grep -i 'Unable' file

The above does not return anything. Looking at the file itself, there is nothing there.

Strange.

Thanks. Perhaps when EMC responds, we'll be able to figure out why NetWorker's self-run nsrim commands are dumping output into daemon.raw for my install.
