Windows BMR wizard - 8.2.4.1313 failure
December 21, 2017 04:59AM
Folks,

Need some help here. We are stuck trying to run the BMR wizard for a windows machine that is rather important and the thing is getting to the point where it tries to talk to the NetWorker server to get the list of backups to recover from and it is failing. Using tcpdump on the Linux NetWorker server, we can see that for some reason, the BMR wizard on the client is trying to talk to a process on UDP port 500 on the NetWorker server - but there is not anything listening on that port. Anyone have a clue what it is looking for?

Thanks,
- Frank

After working with support for a long time, we have finally figured out why the BMR is not working and is going after the ISAKMP port... We disabled oldAuth on the NetWorker server (per ESA 2017-123). BMR does not work if oldAuth is disabled.

Live and Learn...

In regard to: Re: [EMC-DataProtection-L] Windows BMR wizard - 8.2.4.1313...:

Ten years later and EMC still hasn't decided on a consistent stance
or message regarding oldauth vs. nsrauth.
