Backup doesnt seem to be starting
June 28, 2018 12:59PM
(long time since I posted)

Here's an odd one. I have an 8.2.4.3 server, running on Win 2008 R2.

I have a client that is a Win 2012 R2 cluster, running SQL 2012 R2. I
installed the NW client 8.2.4.4 on it, and the NMM 8.2.4.

In NMC, I created a new client (the Windows node), using the normal
"Create Client Wizard" in NMC. Went fine.
I created another client, this time using the SQL server cluster name, and
choosing the SQL entry. That went fine, altho it did create a dummy client
entry in the name of the node. I deleted that client entry.

Now I am doing a test backup of the node, and the job is just sitting
there, at the "Waiting to Run" stage. For like 45 minutes ... the server
isn't busy, it's only doing 4 cloning jobs, not active saves or restores.

Thoughts on why, or where I poke, to find out why it hasn't started?
Forward and reverse DNS work from the server, and the client definition
has the correct aliases (short and and FQDN).
We've been using SQL cluster clients for years, this isn't the first time
I've created a client this way.

Have you checked nsr\applogs logfiles on the active cluster machine?
They are usually quite informative.

Best

Odd. I submitted the job at 3:09PM; this morning I checked, and it started
at 4:24PM, and finished at 5:18PM, which is not unusual running time for a
job of that size.

No idea why it took so long to start, but it is working correctly. I knew
I had set it up right, I've done it often enough over the last 11 years
.... LOL
