reporting recover statistics
August 17, 2018 11:59AM
Hey folks,

I'm trying to look at if I am keeping save sets on disk long enough and if not (of course, I'm not) how much longer I should keep them there before moving them to the next tier down. What I can't find in NMC's recover reports is any way of charting the number of recovers vs the age of the backup. Anyone got that figured out before I start re-inventing the wheel?

I'm running 8.2.4.12 on Linux (RHEL6) (if it makes any difference to the process).

Thanks,
- Frank

In regard to: [EMC-DataProtection-L] reporting recover statistics, Frank...:

Not an answer, but just a heads up before you potentially cobble together
your own: NMC reporting is much worse (much more limited) at 9.x. If
you build something using NMC/gstclreport at 8.2.x, it may not work
at 9.x

I don't know if this is EMC trying to deprecate NMC reporting and push
everyone to DPA, but NMC reporting is certainly less useful at 9.x.

Finally sorted it out.

For future reference - you need to use

nsr_render_log -M "70901" <log file>

Then do some parsing to pull out the date the recover was done, the client name, the save set name, the date the backup was from and the size recovered.

If you want my perl script (linux) -- just ask.
