Cant open session for index service?
August 21, 2018 11:59AM
Here's a new one. I finally scanned both foreign tapes with scanner -m.
Now scanning with "scanner -i", to build the CFI. And I saw a message
scroll by

nsrindexd: 'adminnt6-files' is not a registered client
scanner: (ssid xxx_ Can't open session for client adminnt6-files to index
service on <NW server>

Now, "adminnt6-files" is the name of a server on that foreign tape, and
one for which I want to recover from (so I was hoping to create a dummy
client with the client id of that client).

But why can't it open a session?

Also seeing a lot of "could not create saveset for ssid <different
ssids>".

What's up with THAT??

Mind you, I am running the scanner command on the storage node that the
tape autochanger is connected to. Don't think that should have anything to
do with it ... I believe I did "scanner -s <server> -i".

Thoughts?

MORE: Well, I found a dummy hosts file entry with that host
(adminnt6-files); guess at some time in the past we must have done this
very thing. Maybe that's why it said it couldn't open an index session?
