NetWorker 19.1 released

I have received notification that NetWorker 19.1 (documentation at least) was released yesterday. Did anyone hear/see anything about version 19.0 or has Dell/EMC decided that .0 products are not worth releasing?

Hi Francis,

Data Protection Suite products are released as YY.x, using the last two digits of the year, and the release number. This is the first release of 2019, so it’s 19.1.

That’s the numbering convention adopted last year.

I’ve been a bit tied up the last couple of days, I’ll hopefully have a blog post within 24 hours about some of the great new features across the board.

Cheers,
Preston.

Francis,

REF: Dell/EMC Product Versions

I apologize... the whole product release numbering scheme was my idea as an
employee working with the Networker beta teams. As our story goes, we were
working on developing the Networker version that comes after 8, originally
content to continue sequentially to 9, I reminded them that MSFT almost had
Windows 9 (Nein of course means NO in German) and marketing stopped them.
My suggestion to the team was Year of release and Q, so YY.Q. I was
overridden and they changed to YY.H where H is the half of the year
released. I believe in an attempt to slow releases to twice a year+hot
fixes.

Hopefully going forward we will only see 19.1 then 19.2 and then on to
20.1...

They expanded this to Avamar and DPA. Each product has it's own team so
each team must agree tot he version name change... I believe it should be
universal across all products but there are some hold outs.

I hope this helps...
