Regardless of cost, I have a similar setup with a T2000 and 10Gbe.

Can you tell me about any system tweaks, in particular TCP ?

Are you using jumbo frames for example ?

We have dev db servers that routinely get "refreshed" from the prod db,
so we have the altnames setup so the dev servers can only restore images ...

I can understand that disk space may not be available, however:

Disk mirroring.
Utilising disk mirroring, I have always found this the best
"rollback" method for most changes ...

Doesn't netbackup Storage units consider all available drives, of a particular density eg HCART2, for the library eg ACS 0, that are configured in netbackup sa ...
