Low average speed on linux clients

Post Low average speed on linux clients
Hi,

We have speed problems with arcserve backup on Linux servers.
The version used is: BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Linux r11.5 SP3 Client Agent (Build 2427).
The arcserve server is on a windows 2003.
On linux machines the average transfer is around 400 MB/min while on Windows machines we get around 900 MB/min.
Are there optimization parameters on clients Arcserve Linux ?
All of our linux servers have the same problem.

Thanks.

Nicolas

In the uagent directory, there are some parameters that affect through put uag.cfg
-b <bufsz> #Default value is system dependent.
Disk I/O buffer size in bytes (16384..65536)
-s <bufsz> #Default value is system dependent.
Specify socket buffer size in bytes (4096..65536)
-m <maxbuf> #Default value is 128.
Specify number of buffers allocated for I/O (2..1024)
-c <n> #Default value is 0 milliseconds.
Sleep n milliseconds while waiting (0..1000)

you have to use tial and error to find the best setting for each, too large or too small will hurt performance.

It is also a good idea to do a data transfer via ftp of about 5gb of the target data back to the ARCserve server.

Also traceroute to and from the ARCserve server vi IP & hostname.
