Restoring Exchange 03 Bricks Level

Post Restoring Exchange 03 Bricks Level
Hey,

My Brightstor 12.5 system is being used to back up our Exchange 2007 environment.

However, I have some tape backups (database and brick level) of a defunct Exchange 2003 server which I would like to restore a number of mailboxes from. I gather you're not able to restore this straight into Exchange 2007, so I installed Exchange2003 onto a virtual server (using same names of storage groups of the old Exc03 etc as far as I could see) and have installed Exchange agent on the Exchange 03 server. I can browse that machine using Brightstor and can see Database Level, Document level etc, and the new mailboxes I have set up within.

However, when I go to do a restore of an individual mailbox from my Exchange 2003 bricksl level backup onto a mailbox I created on the new Exchange 2003 server, I get the following message:

Invalid destination path specified, Please make a selection or enter a valid path for destination, eg \\MACHINE\dbaxchg2

Perhaps it is not possible to do such a restore. Would appreciate any pointers anyone can give me about how best to do this.

Thanks! Very Happy

Right up front I don't know Exchange so don't flame me if I suggest something totally off. Most of what I know about it is just from reading the manaul. I'm just tired of people coming back at me with attacks about why am I posting when I'm not an "expert". Well duh look at all the other people posting answers??? I figure better something rather than nothing.

That said, I think the problem is the user mailbox has to be created first and then run the restore.
