Post A linked mailing list does not have poster identification
Posts/replies here on a Backup Central Forum are identified with an ID in the left margin. However, this information is not passed through to its partner mailing list, at least in the case of "veritas-bu" and the "NetBackup-Forum".

This is important especially for contributions that are not manually signed. A reasonable person will and should look at a reply from say Curtis or Paul with a different confidence than, say, me!

If the information can't be automatically entered, perhaps could be encouraged to sign contributions (that will be reflected outside these forums)?

cheers, wayne

Currently, the Backup Central User ID of the person is listed as the "From:" address, followed by the generic email address of netbackup-forum < at > backupcnentral.com. (This is a recent change as of about two days ago.) This information is passed through to the other list.

I can also add a bit of descriptive text at the bottom of the mail that says "this email was sent by emailaddress < at > whatever.com via a Backup Central forum," or something like that. I felt this sounded more like an advertisement for backup central than information for the reader.

After looking at these two methods, I opted for the first. If you look at any posts over the past two days, any posts coming from the forum give the user ID of the person that posted it. Do you feel this is insufficient?

I was unaware of the change. It is perfect as it is now. Thank you!

Trying out another method of identifying users. Please ignore.
