The usual technique is to exclude PST files. This works best if they're
only copies of what's on your Exchange server, but doesn't work if you have
archived PST files that only reside on laptops/desktops (which are evil for
other reasons).
If you want to back up PST files, you really need to use a source dedupe
product, like Avamar, Asigra, or Puredisk.

Subject: [Backups] Backing up Outlook?
Outlook makes gigantic pst files. When an incremental backup is run, the
file has been changed, so every backup the entire huge pst file is copied in
its entirety. Is there a way to avoid this? It seems like it's a pretty
common thing to want to do?
Thanks,
Dave
