Best solution for backup data?
You should have a disaster recovery plan -especially since you are in
the medical field - two copies of your data -one on site - one off-site
at a secure climate controlled location.
A good structure is Backup to Disk (fast backups/fast restores) then
migrate to tape - - send the encrypted tape off-site daily.
I've had much success with the HP StorageWorks D2D4009i - - it's a NAS -
- virtual Library - - BUE interfaces with it and I didn't have to
purchase additional licenses (Library Expansion Option). I use it to
back up 6 remote servers.
On my remote servers I installed the iSCSI initiator (on server 2008
it's built in) and connected to the remote library with no problem. So
the Library appears to be attached to the local server. This is all done
via IP.
A few weeks ago I had to do a restore from January on a server that's
1000 miles away - with no need for assistance on that end. I love this
box!!
