BRU PE versus Symantic Backup Exec QuickStart
Use the BRU PE's "BRUsetta" Stone CD....it's a CD that contains a demo
copy of BRU PE, the catalog for the archive that you're giving them,
the instructions for what they need to do to import and restore that
archive, and you can include other files that you may want to give
them before you actually burn the CD.
They don't need a licensed copy, just the demo. BRU PE will continue
to perform restore operations into perpetuity. After the 30-day demo,
the backup functionality is all that's disabled.
Otherwise, BRU is a proprietary format, just like Retrospect,
Symantec, and all other closed-source vendors.
The only problem that I see is that BRU PE is a Mac OS X only product.
You can't install that on Windows.
Best of luck,
Jeff

Hello,
I use BRU PE for MAC OS X for LTO4 backups. I have someone requesting backups from me that they then intend to restore at their facility, but they are using Symantic Backup Exec QuickStart. Is it possible for them to easily restore the tapes I make using BRU PE? Or will they need BRU PE for their system as well?
