difference between regular and direct restore

Post difference between regular and direct restore 
Can somebody please tell me what is the difference between regular restore and direct restore in ndmp?

I think you're talking about regular restore vs direct access restore. The difference will be seen if you do a restore of a single file in a large image. If you use the regular restore, it will read the whole NDMP backup to find the one file. If you use direct access restore (AKA DAR), NDMP can forward straight to the file in question and restore it much more quickly.

Direct Access Recover would be the first answer that would come to my mind when you talk about direct recover in NDMP. There is something called directed Recovery in case of general backup terminolgy as a matter of fact more in EMC Netwoker. In Directed recover a client which is neither a Source nor a Destination of data can direct data recovery operation .[/b]
