Backup Central

Hi,

we are looking into different HSM products at the moment. Right now we store 120 TB video data on some large RAID arrays. Backup is not trivial and the amount of data will soon be growing to 300 - 600 TB, so we want to move on to a HSM solution. Most of the video data will be accessed read only and not modified, much of data will not even be accessed again at all.

We have looked into 3 products so far:

Quantum's Stornext with dothill RAID arrays and a Quantum tape lib

NetApp FAS Disk storage with Commvault's Data Archiver and some undefined tape lib

NetApp FAS Disk storage with PoINT's NetApp FAS Agent and some undefined tape lib

Anyone around with experience with any on these products, or other products?

Symantec Enterprise Vault is the one I'm most familiar with. But every time I've tried to get it used people tend to end up with sticker shock.

I've also looked in to Quantum's Stornext and might be doing a proposal on it myself as not only an HSM solution, but also as a part of a more overall data protection model (in conjunction with DPM).

I believe F5 has a solution as well, but I've only heard about it, so I could be wrong.

Hitachi and EMC should also have something to offer.
