First post on this forum... So hi

And if this is in the wrong section, my apologies. I saw IBM TSM and Netbackup groups.. which is is neither so picked the general.


We recently purchased the TS3310 and I'm trying to configure everything to bring up the drives.

At the very low level, we are using IBM's Tape Diagnostic Tool (ITDT) to move tapes around in the library.

We CAN move a tape from slot to slot... but we CANNOT move a tape from slot to drive.

As a result, Netbackup fails to load tapes and jobs fail.

Even with robtest, same thing. m s1 s10 SUCCESS. m s1 d1 FAIL.

Any ideas as to what I could be missing

So it was due to the LABEL is used.... XXXXXX L1

The library refused to put that in an LTO5 drive.

And the whole time I thought LY was just another labeling scheme users can use... but apparently robots use it more.
