Is LTO Media re-usable in a different backup software?
Whoever told you the label can't be changed must sell tapes.
You can absolutely relabel them in another backup package. You may have to force the labeling if it recognizes that there's another product's label on the tape.

Hello All,
This is my first post, so i'll give a brief run down. I'm currently the Netbackup Admin for an 800 client Windows environment. Our Unix/Linux servers are currently backed up using Networker, by another admin. We are switching both sides to 1 backup environment using Networker. We are also upgrading the Networker drives from LTO2 to LTO3.
My question is, can I use the Networker tapes in Netbackup once the Networker images have expired? I've been told that the LTO2 tapes carry a label which can't be changed, and will prevent us from being able to re-use these tapes, and i'm going to need to purchase about another 1000 tapes for the cutover time if i'm unable to re-use them.
