minimizing data to back up over T1

Post minimizing data to back up over T1
We have 2 locations, both with T1 connections and I am the sole IT person for the locations. Because we cannot trust that people will change out bacup tapes and take them offsite as necessary, we have chosen to backup the remote location from our main location. There's currently about 40gb in that remote location which takes as you can probably imagine, 4+ days to back up for a full backup, but only about 600mb for incremental backups. I ned to find a way to get the 40gb down to a manageable size. I'm excluding several folders but am wondering about certain folders. Is there anything within the C: drive that is common that I do not need to back up, such as help files? I've found some driver files as well, and a few folders the previous IT person put on there with data dated 2001 Rolling Eyes I'm also seeing on the data drive (ESmile a folder called SIS Common Store. Something tells me this can be excluded without any repercussions as well.

So far from my exclusions, as well as transferring some unnecessary data to our main location, I have been able to bring it down to about 20gb which is great but still a little bit too much.

Data Domain can be your solution. You can deploy 2 DD gateway, but the 1st instance need to do a full replication on site(remote office). Subsequent incremental can be easily manage by DD given they are running SDR. You can easily backup everything with worry which folder to include or exclude. Smile
