New Backup Software POC on existing Backup Software

Post New Backup Software POC on existing Backup Software
Greetings,

I would like to do a POC on a new backup software but I do not have a test server to spare.

My question is, will the new backup software mix up the archive bit on the existing data with backup software already in place or can the software maintain it's own archive bit?

Sorry if this has been answered before but I just couldn't find the info I need.

Thanks for your reply.

The archive bit is a per-file thing. It is maintained in the file, nowhere
else. Therefore, two products that are backing up the same directories will
stomp on each other's archive bit. Having said that, not all backup
software even uses the archive bit. Also, some that use it can be told NOT
to use it.
