Post Quantum Scalar i2000 problem with HP-UX
Hello- I hope someone can help. I have zoned in the MCB on the i2000 and presented to my HP-UX server but I don't see an auto changer. I have control LUN and the one partition presented as external Luns - but all I see is a scsi device and not a changer - I have this with Quantum but help would be greatly appreciated. HP_UX version is 11.11
I have already done ioscan -fn and insf -e to build device files. All i have relating to the robot in my ioscan output is the following:-

ctl 10 0/0/12/1/0.1.47.255.14.15.0 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE QUANTUM Scalar i2000
/dev/rscsi/c22t15d0
This looks like a SCSI initiator device to me. Guessing a little, I would say this means the server has found a SCSI chain but does not see any devices on it, only an initiator. This is why I suspect some sort of SCSI config needs doing on the library device to ensure it presents itself properly as a SCSI device.
There is no autoch device and no /dev/rac/.... device file in the ioscan output. I need these before I can try controlling the library from the OS via the mc command

can anyone help?

many thanks

Hi,

Could you provide us the Zoning from the switch related to this i2K and server, and the Lun report from i2K.

Then I can help you where exactly is the issue.

it's a loop port from the MCB - zoned in the wwn fron the name server
FC4s: FCP [QUANTUM Scalar i2000 595A]
Fabric Port Name: 20:2f:00:05:1e:d5:cc:52
Permanent Port Name: 50:03:08:c0:02:29:a8:01

zone is

BK01_UKASBBK1_ROBOT
50:03:08:c0:02:29:a8:01
50:06:0b:00:00:25:2a:f4 (HP_UX Server)

on the i2k

LUN Mapping

Host,Partition,Device Description,Device WWN,Device SN,Blade,Int. LUN,Ext. LUN
"Host: ukasbbk1 (WWN: 21fd0005:1ed5cc52)","","QUANTUM Scalar i2000","","QUANTUM263105164_CCL","MCB",0,0
"Host: ukasbbk1 (WWN: 21fd0005:1ed5cc52)","Logical Library 01","Logical Library 01","","263105164_LL0","MCB",3,1

thanks

Hi,

Make sure the Control Lun of the first I/O blade in teh i2K has to be mapped only to the RObot Control Host, and the same (Control Lun) should not be mapped to any other media servers, else the robotic control will be with multiple hosts and will be in problems, and make sure the zoning also done correctly.

I am not sure how you do the Lun Mapping in i2K.  Do u use the LUN mapping wizard or Lun mappings?

Check the Lun mapping report which can be obtained from i2K and then from that can you give me the host mappings.

Looks like zoning is done properly.  But if u map only control lun, you dont get the tape drives mapped to the server...You need to map the Tape drives WWN's as well to the server.  Unless you do that, you dont get the tape drives visible on server side.  I guess since you did only the Control LUN mapping, you will have the Robot control to that host if the MCB is the first robot control MCB.

Check the LUN mapping in i2K as well.
