enterpriseLinux laptop backups.. what software is outthere?
On SearchDataBackup.com, we have a cool video of Curtis explaining what
dedupe is, how dedupe differs from common compression techniques, etc.
Here's the link:

Jaspreetis could you tell me a little bit more about the data
de-duplication (http://www.druvaa.com) and how it will aid in our remote
laptop backup (http://www.druvaa.com/products/insync_demo.html) issues.
I think I understand the concept just looking for more details.
Thanks

There are three potential problems in remote backup (over VPN/WAN) - 1.
Bandwidth availability 2. Backup server accessibility 3. Security (more
for WAN)
The product (inSync (http://www.druvaa.com/products/insync.html))
addresses the situation with - 1. source/agent based data de-duplication
to remove duplicates across users and save up to 90% bandwidth.
2. client/agent triggered backups which only need one way port (ALL to
6061) open on the firewall or backup server.
3. the network connection is 2048-bit SSL secured.
More resources for the answer -
a) Remote Backup whitepaper -
http://www.druvaa.com/documents/Druvaa_inSync_Whitepaper_Remote_Laptop_B
ackup.pdf
b) ROI/ De-duplication calculator for PC backups -
http://www.druvaa.com/products/insync_roi_calc.html
The website offers FREE download for evaluation and it takes just under
20 minutes to setup your first backup. I mean it.
