I'd be interested to hear how many people have considered using WAN optimization technology as a way of reducing loads on WAN links when backing up remote offices - or doing remote replication. If not, why not? Thanks.

I've spoken to several companies who are doing both client/agent/source dedupe, and WAN optimization to protect remote offices over slow links. The technologies together can be quite complimentary and have provided a good amount of value to those users. BUT, you need to test it to see if it will work for you.
