Backup Central

My agency is in the process of configuring disk to disk backup. We are trying to resolve what the best way to configure this process is. Should a portion of the disk pool for backup be allocated to the backup host of should all be allocated to the backup cell manager. This is will be configure in a SAN environment. Please give me some best practice ideas

Backup Software: HP Data Protector 5.5 / 6.0
SAN Switches: Brocade
Disk Array: Hitachi NSC 55
OS: UNIX / Windows 2003

Maybe have a try of the third party software, - EASEUS partition manager , the disk to disk backup function performs well. see the help resource http://partition-tool.com/resource/disk-copy-software.htm
