I have been running backup exec 10d for a couple of years without problem.
I have recently added another user backup solution for user data.
This is a Linux PC running BackupPC. It pools all the user data using hard links to reduce repeated files across the backup volume. this software works very well - I have one small problem - backing up the pool!
I cannot get backup exec (running on a MS server 2003) to backup the hard links correctly. It backs up the links as complete files. this causes the backup to swell to 3x the pool size!
I have correctly installed the remote agent on the linux machine and have turned on the
"Enable Single instance backup for NTFS"
and
"Backup up files and directorys by following junction points"
Is this correct?
If anyone else has been able to backup hardlinks your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony
