Backups over the SAN

Post Backups over the SAN 
Is it possible with BackupExec 12 to perform a backup of Oracle running on a Linux server directly over the SAN instead of through the LAN? I know there is the Backup Exec SAN Shared Storage Option but that seems to only allow you to backup Windows servers over the SAN.
