Now we are planning to fresh installation of Windows 2008 Standard operating system. the problem is how I can take back all of my old backup history backup policy, partition of auto loader etc etc to the new Operating system since the server are going to be formatted.

All you need is the DATA and CATALOG folders from the BackupExec installation directory. With those two items, you have all your job history and catalogs.

You will still have to configure the physical hardware in the OS, before BE can see them.

Note, you should move to a 64bit OS as the preferred OS for many of the new BE2010 features. Oh and BE2010 R2 is out, use that install media.

Thanks for your reply,

Those two folder I will copy to another server for time being. once the server is ready, I have reinstall Symantec Backup exac 2010 from beginning. Once the installation completed I have to put back the same data and catalog folder to same place where it was exist?
What about the configuration that I have currently mean dailiy/weekly/monthly/yearly backup tapes, policies, partition that I am using for HP Robotic drive. Is there any way to copy the configuration itself?

Waiting for your reply

Thanks

Post Symantec Backup Exec
Symantec has several kb articles on how to acomplish that. If you are sticking with the same version (2010) of Backup Exec, see http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/319367.htm.

If you are also upgrading to a newer version, see
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/318321.htm.

When searching their kb use the keyword 'migrate'
