Scripting BEX backup and restore jobs?

Post Scripting BEX backup and restore jobs?
When our company was evaluating VTL solutions, we were very clear that we needed to be able to work as easily from the command line as from a GUI. Foremost in our minds was the very real need to be able to script everything, and to be able to build dynamic scripts. We are looking at backing up thousands of Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server databases across scores of instances/machines. We need to be able to dynamically create backup and restore jobs (restores are more important here, though) and run them without a human ever being involved in the process.

Is anyone out there doing this? I'm just getting into the documentation now that we settled on SyncSort, and between the docs and tech support I'm getting lots and lots of crickets about scripting.

Anyone have any good guidance/examples for scripting? Any language, any platform is fine. We just need a way to be able to script our setup.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
