Post amrecover error :Not found in archive
Hi,

I have been backing up using amanda for about 1 month and I agree that I should have checked amrestore earlier. Now that I am trying to restore files/directories using amrestore, there is always this error :

Not found in archive
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

This is what I did in amrestore,

amrecover> add gcc-3.2-sol8-sparc-local
Added file /local/gcc-3.2-sol8-sparc-local
amrecover> list
TAPE WF-3:16,17,18,19,20,21 LEVEL 0 DATE 2011-01-10-00-01-17
/local/gcc-3.2-sol8-sparc-local
amrecover> extract

Extracting files using tape drive file:/bk/location/amanda/vtapes/weeklyfull/slots on host amandaserver.
The following tapes are needed: WF-3

tar: ./local/gcc-3.2-sol8-sparc-local: Not found in archive

That's it and session hangs here. I press CTRL - C to exit to shell.

DLE for this partition is setup as below,

amclient.domain /export/./local /export {
comp-tar
include "./local"
} -1

Two Debug files from server :

amindexd.20110111133827.debug -> http://dpaste.com/307439/

Debug file from client :
amrecover.20110111133548.debug -> http://pastebin.com/zV20sQXs

If you need more info then let me know.

Appreciate your help! Thank you

If I do grep manually from terminal, I see that file is available.

/opt/csw/bin/gzip -dc /opt/csw/etc/amanda/weeklyfull/index/amclient.domain/_export_._local/20110110000117_0.gz | grep gcc-3.2-sol8-sparc-local

/local/gcc-3.2-sol8-sparc-local

Well, I have added one more partition in disklist file - > /etc . This sure does not have '.' like /export/./local/

I have started to think that either tar/gtar or amrecove, one of that does not work well with a . in the specified DLE. It may also be version on solaris atleast.

I am going to check tomorrow if I can recover /etc files using amrecover then I will move all DLE entries to that w/o '.'

amfetchdump worked fine. Can't use that always though as I don't have too much space for full restore...

Thanks

Just an update.

The issue was resolved by modifying all of DLEs in disklist from /export/./abc to /export/abc which means I removed '.' from all DLEs.

Now I can recover anyfile/directory using amrecover. Hope this is helpful for people using '.' inside their DLEs.

Thanks
