Sorry for my total lack of experience in the Windows world Sad

I turned off the Windows firewall on the Seerver 2008 box, and ran an
amchekck. Here is what I got for thta machine:

ERROR: pbuild4.mcn.chs: Server validation Failed. Please register server
with client.

Our configuration is such that the amanda backup user on all clients is
"amanda". I changed the name for the Windows client per the instructions on
the wiki, ut I am still geting this message.

What do I need to do to get past this error?

I found that registering a name instead of an IP adress did not work
with the current version of the amanda windows client.

There is also an outstanding issue where (at least) some people are
seeing incremental dumps doing everything (as if they were level 0).
I have seen no solution, explanation or workaround for that.

Ah, actually I forgot that I had to do that at all. I will go back and look
at the wiki to figure out how I do that, thanks.

In my case, as long as I am getting backups, all level 0 would be OK, but I
do see sizes varying on my Windows clients.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on this.

I am still unable to get past this issue.

At the moment, I cannot even get into the lgfile on the Windows box to try
to figure out why this is failing. I get an error message about the file
being open by another application, and therfore I cannot access it.

Any sugestions here?

I hate Windiws!

rebooting got amcheck to be happy!

Having sadi that, I still can't access the logfile. This is on a brand new
Server 2008/R2 machine, if that matters.

What's to hate? Isn't that step 2 in the universal windows
troubleshooting process?

I think ZWC runs as a service, which would mean its logfile is always
open, right? I'm really making this up as I go along..

Try stopping the service and accessing the logfile.

Use ZWCconfig (use start menu) and set the Server value to the ip
address of your Amanda server.

Thanks, it backed up last night.

So, I know have the Zamanda widnws client working on all of the following:

XP
Server 2003 (32 bit)
Server 2008/R2 (64 bit).

At the monent, I am not certain of the service pack, or rev of the XP and
Server 2003.

Thanks for the good work guys!
