Backup multiple DLEs in parallel on some hosts

Post Backup multiple DLEs in parallel on some hosts
Hi,

I'm running Amanda 3.2.0 and I want on some clients to backup two DLEs at
the same time. Currently I have globally configured "maxdumps=1". But how
do I set up "maxdumps=2" for just some hosts of a set?

I created a new dumptype with "maxdumps=2" and changed all DLE entries of
one hosts to the new dumptype. But on that host still one backup run at
the same time.

But even if I set the global option "maxdumps=2", only one DLE is backuped
at the same time.

Regards,
Marc

run 'amstatus' while the backup is running, what's the reason why some
dupers are idle?

Do you set a spindle on the dles?

9 dumpers idle : no-dumpers

No. I haven't read about spindles yet.

There is a hard coded delay of 15 seconds between starting two dle from the
same client.
You don;t see parallelism because two of the dles take less than 15 seconds.

Thanks. This was the point. My test DLEs were to small.

Maybe this "15 second delay" is an information, that should be added to the
maxdumps option in the manpage.
