I'm at the end of my Bacula --> Amanda project and I'm quite satisfied
with Amanda.
However, there is one 'feature' which I wonder whether it can be
improved. E.g. I stored my video files as 1 dump which used 4
(LTO-2) tapes. Now, in order to restore 1 file, Amanda has to go
through all the tapes which, obviously, take lot of time for one file
restoration.
I'm aware that Amanda does not store, like Bacula, info on which
tape(s) are file backed up, but since recent version(s) of Amanda have
much improved tape-spanning, I'm curious if there is something which
could be added to Amanda's database in order to improve restore
performance?
