Post Rsync, Amandas best friend
Hey Folks,

I'm sure I'm not the first one to think of doing this...

In case of backup server failure, I 'rsync' all my configuration files
in /etc with the Amanda index files onto another server. If my server
crashes or becomes unavailable, I have instantaneaous access to my
backup indices and configurations without mucking about and trying to
find it on the backup tapes without an online Amanda setup.

I just thought I'd put my two cents worth after reading the message
about Gavin Henry's backup server crash.

Bye.

We keep ours in our OpenAFS filesystem. If our amanda server fails,
we stand up another, fire up cfengine on it to install it as an amanda
server, and off we go.
