Using backuppc 2.1.0beta on RH 9 and rsyncd as the transfer method.
I’ve got a slew of machines that are suddenly displaying this problem: error displayed on status page is Child exited prematurely and log messages filled with this:

Parent read EOF from child: fatal error!
Done: 0 files, 0 bytes
Got fatal error during xfer (Child exited prematurely)
Backup aborted (Child exited prematurely)
I just recently switched from smb as a transport to rsyncd. Not all of my clients are doing this, just some. All clients are XP and running the rsyncd service.

Most likely your BackupPC data filesystem is full, or out of
inodes. Use "df" and "df -i" to check.
