BackupFileExclude and rsync

Post BackupFileExclude and rsync
Hi,

I am trying to exclude some directories from a backup, using the web
interface. What's the proper way to do this? I tried entering the full
path on the left, as a key, and entering it on the left and on the
right, as key and value, both to no success. Inspired by an old mailing
list post I then tried entering the common part of the path on the left,
and the individual directories on the right, again no success...

The examples I found online are all using the simple one-part form, but
it seems like the web interface is set for the key-value form.

Cheers

Michael

The key should be the rsync sharename (or * for all of them) and the
value should be the path relative to the share that you want to
exclude. Here's a link to where it was discussed in the underlying
config file format:

Thanks -- with this information in mind I was able to find it in the
documentation as well... I had read that bit about BackupFileExclude a
couple of times beforehand, but somehow the meaning didn't get through
to me.

(Might be my thick skull, or maybe the documentation could be more clear
on this, if others seem to have the same question?)

It makes sense after you see a working example, but you are right that
the 'key' wording in the web interface is not a very intuitive
description for the sharename that is supposed to go there.
