Hello - new to the group and BackupPC. I have installed on a SuSE 9.1
system and intend to backup mostly PC's running XP Pro. I believe I have
set up the global configuration file correctly, however ther are no
generic config files in the per-pc directory. The documentation also
does not explain much about these files like their format, etc. Each PC
has different areas to be backed up and has different user accounts, so
I have to use the per-pc method.

Are there examples of per-pc config files that I can examine? What
should they be named?

Also, how do I start the CGI interface? Which file in the www directory
is the main one? Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks- Dan

The per-pc config file is stored as "config.pl" in the per-PC
config directory. For example, for a host called "myhost",
and assuming the data directory is /data/BackupPC, then the
per-PC config file is:

/data/BackupPC/pc/myhost/config.pl

This file has the same format as the main config.pl file.
However, all you need to put in this file are settings that
override the main config.pl file. The main config.pl file
is always used.

It sounds like the settings you will put in the per-PC config.pl
file are just things like:

$Conf{SmbShareName}
$Conf{SmbShareUserName}
$Conf{SmbSharePasswd}
$Conf{BackupFilesOnly}

Are there examples of per-pc config files that I can examine? What

The debian distribution has examples. I should add some to the
FAQ. Contributions anyone?

If your apache uses /var/www as the top-level apache directory,
then the BackupPC_Admin script should be installed in

/var/www/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin

and you can access it by pointing your browser at this URL:

http://SERVERNAME/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin
