CGI interface

Post CGI interface
Hello all,

first, I've started using BackupPC less than 1 month ago, and it works =
quite well (it is running in a mixed WinXP/Linux network), so thanks! =
Smile

But I have a problem with the CGI interface: there is a web server, but =
in a different machine, not the one in which BackupPC is running. After =
playing a bit with file permissions and configuration settings, the CGI =
seems to connect to backuppc server, but returned results are incorrect: =
it says pool size is 5,8 Gb (in fact it is about 1 Gb larger), and =
according to per-host summaries no PCs have been backed up!! (which is =
not true, all PCs in the network have been backed up).

So the question: how do I configure CGI interface to run in a different =
machine (without these "errors", of course)?

Thanks\0\0\0

BackupPC should be installed on both the server machine and the
apache (CGI) machine. BackupPC only runs on the server machine.
The CGI script only runs on the apache machine.

The CGI script needs to access the BackupPC data directory. So
you need to use an NFS mount, and the path to the data directory
(eg: /data/BackupPC) should be the same on both machines.

Also, you need to make sure the permissions allow the CGI script to
access the /data/BackupPC files. But don't add o+r permissions,
since anyone will be able to look at the backup files. Typically
that means you have to setup the same backuppc user on the apache
machine, and make sure that the BackupPC_Admin script runs as this
user. This is no different to setting up the server and apache on
the same machine.

Ok, that's what I was missing, I didn't mounted the "remote" data =
directory anywhere...

Thanks a lot!
