There seems to be an error with Samba-3.6.x's smbclient and version
3.2.1 of BackupPC.
It has been seen in at least Debian, Fedora RHEL, and CentOS, and is

The error seems to be that the command to list files with smbclient used
by backuppc produces an error.
I can use "ls" to see the files in a directory, but "ls *" gives an
error with that version smbclient, so that might be a factor.
