Post host lookup error
Hi list,

I have the following problem: backuppc can't find host "ruessel":

2004/6/4 22:28:20 Unknown host ruessel for status request

Doing the host-lookup-test from the docu I get:

server:~# perl -e 'print(gethostbyname("ruessel") ? "ok\n" : "not found\n=
");'
ok

so there shouldn't be any dns problems:

server:~# dig ruessel
[...]
;; ANSWER SECTION:
ruessel. 0 IN A 192.168.1.1
[...]

ClientNameAlias is set to undev:

$Conf{ClientNameAlias} =3D undef;

"ruessel" is the only client (next localhost, which works fine) im
going to backup with backuppc.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be?

Thanks a lot

Florian

It's not a problem with DNS. The problem is you haven't told
BackupPC to reload the hosts file after adding ruessel.

You can do this several ways. Send BackupPC a HUP (1) signal.
Run /etc/init.d/backuppc reload. Or wait - by now BackupPC
will have woken up and re-read the hosts file.
