Outlook Windows Box and BackupPC
Author Message
Post Outlook Windows Box and BackupPC
Hello All!,
I have been seeing some switches in the configuration about Outlook. However, looking through the configuration documentation, there is no real Outlook documentation. I'm talking about the switches $Conf{EMailOutlookBackupSubj}, $Conf{EMailOutlookBackupMesg}, and $Conf{EMailNotifyOldOutlookDays}. Is there any other switches created specifically for an outlook system? How does BackupPC determine that a user hasn't backed up their outlook files in ... $Conf{EMailNotifyOldOutlookDays}? Is the user refered to in the documentation the backuppc user or the outlook user?

As well the other system that I'm getting a backup for is a mysql box. Any specific configuration switches for mysql? I'm thinking that on the mysql system, I should run a pre-backup command to dump the database(s) to files. Then have backuppc do it work on the system, pulling those created files.

Thanks for your help!!

Ryan

BackupPC_nightly runs BackupPC_sendEmail which looks through all
the XferLOG files and sees if there are errors for files with a
.pst extension. Specifically errors of the form:

Error reading file.*\.pst : ERRDOS - ERRlock
Error reading file.*\.pst\. Got 0 bytes

Note that these are specific to smbclient. The corresponding
errors for rsync are not checked for. In general, the reporting
for failed files needs to be generalized (for other file types
too) and improved (for each Xfer method).

That's the best way to do it. You should exclude the live
database files, since they might not be in a consistent state
when the backup runs.
