Post Problem with Tar extracts - unable to open backup directory
If you do:

ps -fu backuppc

Do you see the server running as the backuppc user?

Hello Tony,
According to my permissions on the directory, I do

drwxrwxrwx 3 backuppc users 4096 Jul 22 12:41 connect/

All the other dirs /home, /home/backuppc, /home/backuppc/pc are owned and
read/writable by backuppc and users.

Are you sure that your backppc user has permission to read and write from
/home/backuppc/pc/connect ?
