Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt...

Post Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt...
I'm running Backuppc on my school network. I'm attempting to backup
several computers in a few domains... and have been having periodic
trouble from time to time. I've been running with this problem for about a
month.
Yesterday, when I was checking my server, there was only 1 machine which
had problems with it's backup, and that computer was down for repair.
Today, I look at the same list and have a large number of hosts that have
errors... For example (Errors I get, several of each):
* Getting files newer than Sun Jul 18 17:00:01 2004
* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \System Volume Information\*
* No files dumped for share C

Why this is happening, I'm not sure. Each of these are backing up using
SMB. All of my linux boxes (which use tar) are having no problems. Some
things of note: Many of thes machines are cross-domains. Looking at the
error logs, it looks like the backups often fail without rhyme or reason
(Especialy the "Getting Files Newer" errors...)
Anyways, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

What SMB user are you logging into the shares with?

The 'getting files newer' thing is because you're doing an incremental
backup, and the time given is the time of the last backup + the time
between incrementals for this host.

This is your problem. The NT Status Access Denied means that the
profile that is being used to log into the Windows machine doesn't have
sufficient authorities to access the share. Check the password of the
profile that you're using to do the backups., to make sure it wasn't
changed.
