Post Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt... POSSIBLY SOVED...
I think I might have fixed my "No Files Dumped" and "Getting files newer
than..." errors... The problem was using BackupPC accross multiple
domains and user authentication, I think.

I like to backup using the Administrator account on a given machine. It
makes life easier than to make a new user for each machine I need to
back up. But my computers are on one of three diffrent domains. Also,
there is the local administrator account vs the domain administrator
account which can have diffrent credentials and passwords.

How I solved this was to specify 'COMPUTERNAME\administrator' in the
user feild of the smb backup. This provided a fool-proof way to make
sure which administrator I was using. I've only been trying this as of
tonight, but I think it fixed my problems.

Also, you can use this trick to specify which domain you wish to login
to on the smb host.

Just FYI.

I'm running Backuppc on my school network. I'm attempting to backup
several computers in a few domains... and have been having periodic
trouble from time to time. I've been running with this problem for about a
month.
Yesterday, when I was checking my server, there was only 1 machine which
had problems with it's backup, and that computer was down for repair.
Today, I look at the same list and have a large number of hosts that have
errors... For example (Errors I get, several of each):
* Getting files newer than Sun Jul 18 17:00:01 2004
* NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \System Volume Information\*
* No files dumped for share C

Why this is happening, I'm not sure. Each of these are backing up using
SMB. All of my linux boxes (which use tar) are having no problems. Some
things of note: Many of thes machines are cross-domains. Looking at the
error logs, it looks like the backups often fail without rhyme or reason
(Especialy the "Getting Files Newer" errors...)
Anyways, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
