Post Tar error 256
I've recently installed BackupPC and have been unable to get past the
error below. I'll admit that I'm a linux noob. Sure could use some
suggestions.

Running: /bin/tar -cvf - -C / --totals .
Xfer PIDs are now 8819,8818
Exec failed for /bin/tar -cvf - -C / --totals .
Tar exited with error 256 () status
tarExtract: Unexpected end of tar archive (tot = 512, num = , posn = )
tarExtract: Done: 1 errors, 0 filesExist, 0 sizeExist, 0 sizeExistComp, 0 filesTotal, 0 sizeTotal

It looks like you've inserted a space at the start of $Conf{TarClientCmd}
(or $Conf{TarClientPath}). When you removed the ssh part of the command
you also need to remove the space before $tarPath.

Also, tar'ing the entire local drive "/bin/tar -cvf - -C /" will
also include the BackupPC data directory, which will cause the
backups to grow indefinitely. If you are planning on backing
up the server's drive you should exclude /proc and the BackupPC
data directory.
