Post that darn (ie) cache
Has anyone come up with an exclusion to prevent users' IE cache from being
backed up. It is a CWOT and a CWOBandwidth.

Since the folder "Temporary Internet Files" is typically the culprit, and it
lurkes underneath the user accounts in the "documents and settings" folder,
I haven't been able to fathom an exclusion that would nix it from the
backup.

Seems like I back up a new 25 - 100MB internet cache freom each machine
every night, and I'd love to nip that in the bud. Thoughts? Thanks,

TC

If you are using rsync or rsyncd then you can exclude directories with
wildcards. With smbclient you cannot.

If you are using rsync or rsyncd you could add something like
this to $Conf{RsyncArgs}:

'--exclude', '/Documents and Settings/*/Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files/',

to ignore that specific path (notice the wildcard where the user name
is, or

'--exclude', 'Temporary Internet Files/',

to remove any directory called "Temporary Internet Files" at any level.
